The Raab-Oedenburg-Ebenfurter Eisenbahn AG (Hungarian: Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurti Vasút Zrt.), short: GySEV or Raaberbahn, is a private Hungarian railway company that operates regional trains in Hungary and Austria. They primarily operate passenger services south and east of Lake Neusiedl (Western Hungary), partly even on their own infrastructure.

Important Information

FIP is valid on all GySEV routes in Hungary. However, the GySEV FIP Coupon is primarily intended for Hungary and is valid on GySEV routes in Austria only with restrictions.

The following lines can be used with the GySEV FIP Coupon in Austria in the specified sections:

  • REX 63: Neusiedl am See – Fertőszentmiklós 1
  • REX 6: Wien Hbf – Deutschkreuz – Sopron
  • REX 65: Eisenstadt – Wulkapordersdorf (connection with REX6 and through service to Wien Hbf)

FIP 50 Tickets for MÁV and GySEV connections are sold on the MÁV booking website. To add the FIP 50 discount, on the connection search page under Passengers and Discounts, the passenger overview must be opened. Only after entering the date of birth can the FIP 50 discount be added with Add Discounts. A distinction is made between FIP 50 1st class and 2nd class. The class refers to the eligibility, not the desired class of the ticket.

Reservations

Reservations for MÁV and GySEV trains can be purchased online for 990 HUF. To do this, the option I only need seat reservation must be selected in the connection search.

Personal Tip
To avoid additional costs when calling abroad, you can use the app Satellite. It offers 100 free minutes per month for international calls. A German residence is required for registration and registration may take a few days.

The reservation price is charged per train. For journeys with multiple trains, it may be cheaper to book via the (Deutsche Bahn).

However, seat reservations made with ÖBB can be cancelled:

  • 180 days to 15 days before departure: 100% refund of the reservation price
  • 14 days to 1 day before departure: 50% refund of the reservation price

FIP 50 Tickets can be purchased at MÁV ticket machines for travel within Hungary for MÁV and GySEV as well as for cross-border connections.

To book FIP 50 Tickets, select the option Further Discounts in the passenger discounts section. You can then choose FIP 50% domestic discount 1st class (50%) or FIP 50% domestic discount 2nd class (50%). The class refers to eligibility, not the desired class of the ticket.

Reservations for MÁV and GySEV trains can be purchased on-site for 990 HUF.

To book reservations without a ticket, select Further settings in the passenger overview. You can then select the option I only need a seat reservation.

Hungary

With public fares, children under 6 travel free of charge. Children up to 14 years can receive a 50% discount on the adult fare. Persons from 14 years pay the adult fare.

Austria

With public fares, children under 6 travel free of charge. Children up to 15 years can receive a 50% discount on the adult fare. Persons from 15 years pay the adult fare.

FIP discounts are not valid on GySEV bus connections.

For a break of journey, the ticket must be stamped at the station where the break should be.
